Undergraduate finance after a level 6 diploma

I am thinking of doing a 3 year Level 6 diploma accredited by Trinity College London, in theatre skills, after my GCSEs. I am aware of the funding arrangements for this course, my question is: after my diploma, if I want to go to university to do an undergraduate degree (eg if I decide to be a teacher), will I be eligible for normal Student Loan finance for tuition fees and maintenance?

Hi William,

Would this be a top up to your level 6 course or what is the course you'd be looking to do? Thanks, Jason

Obviously I am years away from making this decision, but, say I wanted to do a full three year university course in Drama or Theatre Studies, not topping up, I would be age 19, the same age as people who had taken a gap year.

Hi Williamkeith,

A level 6 diploma is the same as the level 6 degree, therefore you wouldn't be eligible as you would hold an equal level qualification.

Thanks - do you have a link to where I could find this in writing officially? Also, would any funding be available for the top-up degree course which Trinity offers?

Hi Williamkeith,

A top up would also be an ELQ, a level 6 is degree level therefore it would need to be a stand alone masters or if you were attending a course which an exception to the rules such as an Allied Health Professional course, NHS course or PGCE.
