Do most schools in y12 do as level before a level?

Do most schools in y12 do as level before a level? My school we only do mocks in y12 mainly and use our predicted grades for our application. Apparently before everyone did as levels?

if ur in the uk, they scrapped as levels so now they only do a levels and write their papers at the end of y13. If ur outside the uk youd probably do international a levels and they still do as levels in y12 and finally a levels in y13
It depends where you are at school - Wales and NI still take AS.
As above, in England the AS level is a separate qualification and doesn't "count" towards the final A-level (which is now a linear qualification) so most schools don't do it if you're on the course for the full A-level. Outside of England AS levels still exist as part of modular qualifications leading to an A-level and therefore are still taken as they used to be.

Thank you. Would it be better to take As and A level or just A level?

If you are studying in England there is no benefit in doing both AS and A-level exams, they are two separate qualifications and the AS doesn't confer any value if you are taking the full A-level.

If you are studying outside of England (i.e. NI/Wales/rest of the world) you have to do the AS as it's an integrated part of the qualification.

It's kind of a moot point as the answer is already defined by where you are studying - it's not a case of "better" it's a case of necessary or unnecessary.

Ah okay, well I’m part of England. I was just confused because when my sibling took a levels a couple years ago it was compulsory to take as level too. Thanks

Most A levels are in conjunction with AS levels ie the first year of an A level is the AS level. If you are taking the A level, you won’t have official exams until you have finished the whole course, unless you ask for it. Personally I am using predicted grades and GCSEs and until now I hadn’t heard of anyone doing anything different.

I’m doing as levels this year and this will be used for predicted ucas grade. People use as exams past papers so called mocks but I am doing the actual exam. This is a qualification but full a levels are done next year !!
