Will you suggest a nice love song? Something exciting.

It is just all overwhelming. There are many LOVE songs - of all types and epochs. I was a bit tired of something too sentimental, and that is what I definitely love... These songs are sometimes a bit sloppy or too youthful. I know some more serious songs. Or really some of the very best songs are NOT about happy LOVE.

I would like something that is warm, thrilling, emotional and truly tender... Something that has a lot within and shows a little of it all on the surface. Something that is undeniable but calm enough when you feel and do not need to shout it loud.

No matter what genre language arrangement or time, but preferably traditional instruments - viola guitar double bass trumpet, but occasionally electronic instruments are good. Not classical creations just because they speak for themselves, they are wonderful -although why not but better something more contemporary. If you love something a lot and were impressed, write please. It could be that I find something new because I am a bit confused in my tastes. I do not know what fresh feelings can be expressed and if they can be just as strong as I would like them to be.

I am feeling warm at the moment. I do not want to lose that too soon. But no hiphop, I really do mean traditional form of the song, something that universally expresses the best feeling.

have never heard any 80s song, which one do you recommend?
Gosh that's a lot of criteria you want fulfilling there for a love song.

I Just Called To Say I Love You by Stevie Wonder is a nice love song. Probably doesn't fit all your criteria but ehhh whatever, try it anyway.
My other go-to love song is Annie's Song by John Denver.

Try some popular ones to start out like.

I wanna know what love is.

Right here waiting.

Take my breath away.

Every breath you take.

Time after time.

Saving all my love for you.

Take on me.

And also I recommend
Hello-

Though it’s not a love song it definitely has that feel of a song.

Very old, but “There is a lady sweet and kind” (Thomas Ford, English Civil War era) or in a very dark and yet quite sweet way, the second to last verse of Heine’s “Keine Messe wird man singen, keinen Kadosch wird man sagen” seems to catch the strange, slightly ironic fondness my late father had for my mother in his last days.

Here are my suggestions:-

The Bangles- Eternal Flame:- IMHO, this is possibly the purest love-song of all time. As well as the generic love theme, it touches on those insecurities as well as the disbelief / excitement you have when you're in love with someone.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood- The Power of love:- Great song, and completely unexpected from the band, given their other songs. It's also "Big-Band", so it combines some of the classical elements you've mentioned

LeAnn Rhymes- How do I breathe:- The love theme from the movie Con Air, starring Nicolas Cage. Beautifully performed by LeAnn, who was only 15 years old at the time (It's a BIG song for a 15 year old, but she pulled it off)

Billy Joel- I love you just the way you are:- I'll probably get slated for saying Billy Joel's version over Barry White... but I just like the soft touch Billy has given to the song ( I think the word is "Quiet Storm").

Spandau Ballet- True:- One of my all time favourite songs. There's not a lot more to say about this because "I know this much is true" (sorry, I just couldn't resist).

George Michael - Careless Whispers:- What everyone sees as the defining song of George Michael (his "Swan-Song") and proof he could be taken seriously as a singer (He then duetted with some of the biggest Divas throughout musical history, including Aretha Franklin; Witney Houston; Mary J Blige; Elton John etc.) Can't believe no one's mentioned this yet lol. Maybe cause it's about heartbreak, but it's still love.

Madonna - Crazy for you:- I know she divides opinions... but this is a great love song (is this the only love-song she's ever done? LMAO)

Good selections there... although, you DO know that Every Breath you take - The Police is actually about stalking someone? Sting admitted he wrote that song as a dig about his ex.

A lot of people praise Witney Houston for I will always love you (from The Bodyguard)... but IMHO, Saving all my love for you is a far superior performance (especially as she was 19 at the time). I heard that on my playlist a few weeks ago and her performance in that actually moved me to tears (and I'm a black guy from London lol). It's just a shame we now remember her as that drug fuelled f*** up, and not the greatest pop vocalist of our time. If you're talking about A-Ha -take on me, I would have thought of that as a dance track, rather than a love song... but that's just me.

Oh, and Lionel Richie- Hello was supposed to be a love song... it's just because the video was considered "cheesy" so it got a lot of stick.

Yes I do know.

….but that doesn’t ruin the song for me too much because I don’t fallow specific artists.

And they are good songs so😬

You're not the only one who thinks that TBF.

It's one of those songs where the public have chosen the theme meaning, rather than what the artist wanted. Although not a love song, Green Day- Good Riddance (I hope you had the time of your life), is actually a massive F**k You!! message... but everyone associates it with Good byes and sadness something's over.

More on topic, I didn't know East 17- Stay another day was about one of the singers brothers who took his own life a few years earlier... Just another Christmas and / or love song to everyone else. Still, the true meaning kinda comes out if you ever saw them performing it.

Anyways, I don't want to distract from the theme of this thread

Ya it’s fine though because it happens. It’s a shame for the artist. Because it probably feels like they were miss understood or worse. But now in this day it doesn’t make much of a difference to the listeners

This might not be your exact cup of tea but 'Shine' or 'Angel' by Alice Phoebe Lou are very charming love songs to me personally. Alice has a lovely velvet voice that is just very hypnotic - I'd check them out if I were you!

I don't fall slow like I used to
I fall straight down
You've stolen my air catcher
That kept me safe and sound
My parachutes will guide me
Safely to ground
But now the cord's not working
And I see you staring me down
I won't fall in
Love with falling
I will try to avoid
Those eyes
I think you would beat
The moon in a pretty contest
And the moon just happened to be
The very first thing that I missed
I was doing fine on my own
And there wasn't much I lacked
But you've stolen my air catcher
And I don't know if I want it back
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
You fell asleep in my car, I drove the whole time,
But that's ok, I'll just avoid the holes so you sleep fine,
I'm driving here I sit, cursing my government,
For not using my taxes to fill holes with more cement.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
My heart is my armor,
She's the tear in my heart, she's a carver,
She's a butcher with a smile, cut me farther,
Than I've ever been.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
For you, I'd go write a slick song just to show you the world
For you, I know they think it's messed up to sell out for your girl
For you, I'd go step to a dude much bigger than me
For you, I know I would get messed up, weigh 153
For you, I would get beat to smithereens
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Say enough, say enough
Did I let her know, let her know
If I found my body in chains
I'd lay down in wait
'Cause it's the fear of the unknown
That cripples every step we take
And I just hate to put this on her
But I swear that I will give more than I take away
Mm, the craving
Now I see intentions don't mean much
