Can you incorporate fashion/textiles into a Fine Art degree?

Applying for fine art (as primiary medium paining) but I'm also keen to explore fashion/textiles. Does anyone know if this is possible at Leeds, Oxford Brookes or Bath Spa?

Leeds and Bath Spa possibly - have you looked at their final year shows to see if their current graduates are producing that sort of work?

I know when I was touring grad shows last summer AUB had a lot of fine art work using various textiles (from costumes used in performance art to fabric as a medium to knitted/crocheted work) https://aub.ac.uk/showcase/lynne-williams for example (hit the close button to go back to the work of all the grads)

Hi @Shellfish1

As far as Fine Art itself, textiles, you absolutely. I use a lot of textiles, but in an abstract way. I use a lot of textiles myself. Fashion is a little more difficult. Clothing is no problem in general, but its not really fashion as such.

I highly recommend you talk to the Unis themselves, even if its only by e-mail to clarify what is acceptable to them. Every Uni is going to be a bit different, especially on what workshops they allow students access to. Some have open access, others are quite restrictive in terms of the specialty track they want you on.

Hope that helps.
