UCAT revision

Hi,
I am a year 12 student who does bio, chem and psy(edxecel) and I was wondering when's the good time to actually start preparing for the UCAT.Like I read from somewhere to be doing speed reading to like get in that swing of things but what about for the other sections like decision making, quantitative reasoning( I think that's what it's called) and the situational judgement. Btw for the situational judgement it's so confusing cuz idk whether to read and memorise all 63 pages of the good medical practice...
And plus I'm kinda nervous cuz this is the first year where the UCAT doesn't have abstract reasoning (which is (AMAZING BTW fight the wall if u disagree) and what if unis are wayyyy harsher now 😔😢. So uhh help???
Thank you xxx.

P. S DOES ANYONE DO EDXECEL PSYCHOLOGY I AM FLOPPING SO BADDDD 😭😭😭😭. THERE'S WAYYY TOO MUCH CONTENT AND AHHH IDK WHERE TO EVEN START FROM. FLASHCARDS??? PAST PAPER??? MINDMAPS??? HELPPPP. But uhh thank you 😊🌹.

Hii,
I started studying for my ucat like 3 months before I booked it I think and I got 2820 band 1. When I was studying for my UCAT I literally just did all of the practice tests on the ucat website and I also got a medify subscription and did the practice tests in there. For the sjt id say you can look over the good medical practice but dont bother reading the whole thing because it’ll be a waste of time. Honestly the more questions you do the more you’ll understand what kind of answers they’re looking for. Also for the quantitative reasoning section make sure to use the onscreen calculator when practicing because it’s much quicker with an actual calculator so you won’t know how long you would actually take in the exam when you don’t have an actual calculator on you and make sure you have a pen and paper on you. I don’t think you unis will be harsher necessarily but the cut off points may be slightly higher but everyone should have slightly higher scores than if they did the abstract reasoning as well.

You need to think about school before uni. It will be so so so much harder to get into medicine with bad a-levels than with a bad ucat, you can resit the ucat next year but resitting a-levels is much harder and may stop you doing year 13 a-levels if you don't focus on them hard enough now.

Anyways to answer your question, most people start 6-8 weeks before as you can really only get so good at the ucat, your scores will increase from the beginning but they will average out and no amount of extra revision can change that, it is designed that the more studying you do doesn't equal higher mark, but how emotionally and mentally intelligent you are as a person.

Best of luck.
