Edge Hill University Accommodation
Hi! I have firmed my offer to study my PGCE at edge hill in September , just wondering about accommodation and when should I apply?🙂 I am from Northern Ireland, so want to make sure I get in early to secure accommodation for the year.

Apply NOW if you can as they're very disorganised. If you're told anything on the phone, record it (if you can't record using your phone, put the phone on speaker and use a recording website such as Vocaroo - don't say you're recording as Edge Hill likes to hide things so they'll just cut off the call even if you have disability-related reasons for recording, e.g. memory issues) and get confirmation in writing. There's a website where someone has written about problems with Edge Hill, including the accommodation.
I also know that there are lots of soon-to-be-students due to panicking about their accommodation as some of the recent work on the accommodation hasn't been completed yet (they weren't officially told; they found it out via the Vice Chancellor, John Cater, as he's leaving in disgrace so he's metaphorically wrecking the place before he goes, despite the fact he's the person at the top so the problems are on him).
So don't wait - if you've not received anything, contact the University and ask them. If they say they'll send you information closer to September, again, record what they say and get it in writing. Getting confirmation in writing is always best, e.g. either ask them to send that or send them an e-mail saying something like "Further to our conversation today, I understand that I'll receive accommodation information closer to September. Please could you confirm that my understanding of this is correct." - they're very defensive so by making it look like you just want to check you've understood properly, it shouldn't get their backs up.
Anyway, not trying to scare you, just want to prepare you. As long as you have evidence of things, you'll probably be fine. Enjoy the campus.

Hi there!
Congratulations! That's great news! If you are still looking to book accommodation, I would recommend having a look at the different accommodation types soon so you have an idea of where you would like to live. Accommodation is booked through a portal so if you have had the link to book you should have a look soon as it means more rooms will still be available. However, there are plenty of rooms available so if you need longer to decide there is no rush!

Sorry I do not have advice on your above question. But I have a question similar to the above, I am from Nigeria coming in by August. My question is if the university accommodation is advisable for me as a pgce student considering the fact that we will spend more time in placement school than in the University.
