Uni advice

Hello , and good day
so i am a student (international technically ) in year 12 and i am considering doing an Msci in biochem with an intigrated neuroscience degree at keele uni because:
i acually like research and learning especially when it comes to more sciencey subjects
it isnt too expencive (40k+ for med compared to 17k+ for the degree)
and it seemes nice ,from what ive seen not gone to open days yet

but im not sure is it a good uni interms of job aspects, research, facilities lectures, student life?
i dont care about rankings but i want to also know will the degree from the uni be repected internationally too
or do i just do medicine

thx for your time and advice

Hi, I’m a freshman at Keele (not medicine, but physics and maths), so I’ll try to answer some questions for you.

Student Life join at least one society in your first semester (I saw mine 2-4 times a week, and it really helped me to adjust to university life), student union is mid (you can get the app, which gives you notifications about what’s on each night and sometimes, they have ‘celebrity guests’), KPA bar is probably the best place on campus, most students spent their free time in Newcastle Under Lyme, chapel and library are open 24/7, there’s 2 coffee shops, a Greggs, and a Co-Op, download Uber for Uber Eats if you don’t have it already overall, it could be worse

Research/Teaching - Keele is NOT a research university, and professors are coming and going at the moment, so teacher-specific modules will change as well as focus areas for each field. The majority of professors are good at their jobs. What Keele lacks in research, it gains in teaching. Modules are constantly being reworked after feedback to ensure students are learning in ways that work for them, and that maximise their understanding and engagement on the subjects. The research is… fine. There are a lot of doctorate programs available, and many of my professors did their masters and doctorates at Keele, so it must have offered something interesting for them to stay and do some sort of research whilst teaching again, overall, it could be worse

EDIT - apparently Keele IS considered a research university, but I’m a student, and you hear nothing about any research, and my professors don’t mention any in fact, one of my profs TOLD me it wasn’t a research university anymore
