Hi There!
Sorry for my late reply, I didn't see a notification.
To join the course, the entry requirements are a 2:2 in an undergraduate degree of a similar nature (film studies, media studies, etc). You can find more information about the course here- https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/courses/postgraduates/2025/36259-film-ma
In terms of my experiences, I am really enjoying the course, I'm doing it part time, so last year I did two modules. I studied 'Researching Film', which was an introductory module into different research methods where we learnt about theoretical/ historical research such as archival research, textual analysis as research and journal articles, but we also learnt how to use practice as research. So for example, we learnt how we can use filmmaking as a way of experimentation and researching different elements of film like how shadows are used, or aspect ratio, or anything else practice based.
I also did the 'Film Festivals' module, and this was really fun. It's great if you are interested in event planning and it really opens your eyes up to other career prospects other than just filmmaking or academia. This module bought the students together as a cohort as we all had to work really closely to ensure the festival was a sucess.
This year I will be doing 'Screening the City', 'People in Film' and 'Final Project'. I'm not sure what to expect from these modules, but everything seems pretty positive so far.
