GLS / GLP Legal Trainee Scheme 2025: Solicitors

Hi all, I’m a bit early, but starting starting a thread to share our journey highs and lows…

I’m a current civil servant looking to make the jump from policy mid-way through my career. I’m doing some info gathering on the application process, as well as any relevant info for existing CS - will share when ready 🙂 also v happy to share tips on behaviours.

PS. Really keen to hear from any other ‘mature’ candidates!

Have you considered the Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship? You're essentially treated like a trainee and able to qualify a lot quicker.

I got into GLD on my third attempt. So, keep at it.

I actually found your post re apprenticeships on another thread! I’ve signed up to the alerts 🙂

Congrats! Would you mind if I dropped you a message? Keen to understand more about how the scheme works/differences.

Hi, could you explain when it opens please? I can't seem to find much info about it.

Hi All ,

I want to ask whether by any chance you have a rough time estimate on when the apprenticeship application opens , I do remember last year was around October. Does it change every year?? I’m really wanting to do the apprenticeship instead of the LTS as I want to work while im studying .

Thanks 😊

I agree it was difficult and more difficult than the SJT. The timing was intense as there was a lot to read and understand.
