You can continue to apply for grad schemes, these are just entry level roles so as long as you’re happy going in there. Grad schemes do tend to be extremely over subscribed, certainly everywhere I’ve worked are grad roles are often 100+ applicants per role. And graduate schemes are often more about filtering out candidates rather then finding the “best” individuals as often there are far too many well qualified candidates. I would consider direct entry jobs, often off cycle opportunities are much easier, additionally fixed term contracts (FTC) or free lancing to build experience in the industry you are pursuing are worth considering. A FTC can often lead to permanent role, or new contracts if the company are happy with your performance.

Thank you! Yes I’ve applied to a few that I can see myself doing, got rejected for a few already but have got a few more to apply for.
I am also applying to FTC too, if they’re far I’ll consider it if it’s 6 months plus. Just hope I’ll get something because I am getting really bored at home.

Yes, id also note you will need to remain active to be competitive for graduate jobs. Make sure you are continuing to undertake personal development, volunteering and other work to showcase your skills & attributes in other areas.

Yes definitely. I’ve done a few courses and am starting a language class soon. Hopefully I’ll get a graduate job in 2025.
I'm about to turn 26, just finished my MSc (graduated BSc at 24 y/o), so definitely not alone. Grad scheme applications are killing me at the moment, starting to apply for more direct entry jobs as my current fixed term contract ends soon.
Same boat - got to the last stage of Civil service grad scheme- but in all honestly putting all eggs in that basket and if that dont go well and back to square one. you are not alone!
Almost 31 here looking to change career. Some people also do a Masters later and not straight after the bachelor and would then possibly apply to graduate programmes. Certain companies/organisations seem to be more open to older graduates than others such as the civil service.

Yes definitely. For anyone reading this, there are so many different paths in life and being older than 21/22 can be an advantage!

I'm sorry to hear that and I hope everything is going better now. I did a similar thing last year where I got to the last stage of something. There are loads of entry level jobs and grad schemes open all year round too 🙂
