there are no extra curriculars that can "help you get into" any university, do what you love and enjoy then showcase them 🙂

Focus on your grades, ensure you at least meet your offer. University admissions aren't interested in extra curriculars.

Hi - extracurriculars that are relevant to a mech eng course e.g. school design, robotics or coding clubs, compete in maths and physics competitions/olympiad? Also choose a summer project with an engineering focus: design or build a project that you can reference in your PS. If not too late, also apply for the Arkwright sholarship programme, great for connect days and industry access

Have a look at the Smallpeice Trust and the Institute of Mechanical Engineers for ideas and advice

Hiya, work experience is great. It is too late to apply for most now (they tend to open around February) but quite a lot of companies run schemes. Smallpeice, LEAF and most universities run summer schools. If you are in year 10, Arkwright is fantastic. Future learn run online courses. You can get a free cad membership with fusion. Basically look around. Try and start an engineering club at school.
