Based on your other choices Bristol seems more likely to suit you than UCL/London. From what you've written it sounds like you much prefer Bristol and have done a lot more research into it but are only put off by the competition and possible grudge against oxbridge applicants. Looking at the historical grades on UCAS Bristol make offers to 90% of applicants for English & French so I don't think it's as competitive as you think and universities can't see where else you've replied until you pick a firm/insurance.

Utter nonsense - yet another silly myth - where did you hear this.

We dont know where else you have applied until after you have all your offers and made your Firm/Insurance choices - only then can Unis see where else you applied. And even if we did somehow 'know' before that point, we don't actually care. All Unis want bright students, being prejudiced about anyone we 'think might have also applied to Oxbridge' would be a bit counter-productive wouldn't it. And 'timing' tells us nothing either - plenty of non-Oxbridge apply before October and plenty of Oxbridge applicants add their other choices later. And btw, the majority of Oxbridge applicants won't get an offer from Oxbridge and they will end up at another University - and we know this, so yet again, it would be very silly if 'all other Unis' had this mythical snobbery. Be careful about anything 'I've heard' - its usually unfounded silliness.

As above. One of the reasons I joined TSR was the daft myth that Bristol discriminated against "Oxbridge rejects". I went as far as contacting my old personal tutor, who was by then a professor at Bristol. He dismissed it as utter garbage, pointing out that to do so would cut off many, many talented and qualified applicants - just the sort of people they wanted to teach.
