Are they really strict with entrance grades for sussex? I'm one grade below what they accept so I'm not sure if I should still apply. For example one of my friends applied to royal holloway and got accepted with a conditional offer to get AAB even though she has all B's. Could this be the case for sussex???? Because If I apply and they accept me with a conditional offer of me getting higher grades in my alevels i'd be fine with that because I'm sure I will but I don't just want to get rejected because my predicted grades are lower than the entry requirement straight away

Some courses will be more popular than others. For what course would you be applying?

Generally speaking, I think you may well get an offer from Sussex even if your predicted grades are one grade below their requirements. But - as I say - this will depend on the course.

I'm applying for the media and journalism course which I'm assuming isn't a very popular choice? Would it being a less chosen and less popular choice mean there's a higher change of me getting accepted?

Thanks. As I'm sure you know, Sussex is quite highly regarded for that type of course and their typical offer grades for Media and Journalism BA (Hons) are ABB.

Having said that, the "Historical entry grades data" section of the UCAS page for that course - here - shows that in recent years they've make offers to 19 in every 20 applicants to that and similar courses. That's good news. Also, the most common achieved grades for applicants who were made an offer is BBB - so they clearly don't stick to the ABB requriement. In fact, for those candidates who were made an offer, and then achieved just BCC - 100% of them were accepted. So your odds seem good.

Definitely apply! I applied with achieved grades that were 3 or so grades lower than the requirements for a more competitive course and got an offer
