Film Production Portfolio Advice

I’ve just received a portfolio request from AUB for Film Production. Was wondering if anyone who has successfully got onto the course had any advice on things like the way they displayed all their work, is a highlights reel better than individual links to short films? How much do I focus on extra stuff like music or screenwriting? Any advice is greatly appreciated 👍
Hi there!

It’s great to hear you’re looking for some advice on building your portfolio for AUB this is a great chance to provide us with an insight to what you create.

You could submit a highlight showreel with short examples of work you’ve produced or helped with, or individual links to films either works great as well as providing context behind your creative decisions (make sure we can access it, so no passwords). We’re also interested in seeing your other talents too, so music and screenwriting would be excellent to include!

Most importantly, you should demonstrate your creative vision and how you tell a story. We want to see great content that provokes a reaction rather than top-tier production value, alongside your wider interests and you as an individual. At the forefront, we value your passion, interest and ideas.

Hi!
I’ve also just received a portfolio request and am slightly confused at the format to present my work!
Should I upload a link to a PDF file with the link to my showreel and then also evidencing etc? Some of the wording is confusing!
If anyone who has applied before has any advice that would be fantastic!
Sorry an thank you

Hi Em, that would work just fine! So long as there’s a link to a selection of clips or montage of your work, that’s great the PDF or Word doc can then go in greater depth behind your creative process and decisions for each project.

Here’s a story from our website with some general portfolio advice too: https://aub.ac.uk/latest/how-to-master-your-portfolio-submission-when-applying-to-universities

As always, do let us know if you have any questions!
