Should I do a foundation year at university?

I am sending my application in two days, so please help me
I was considering doing a foundation year for biomedicine Some people tell me that it’s useful, however some just say it’s a waste of time

Why do you think you might need a foundation year? Don't you think you'll meet the conditions for year 1 entry?

I do meet the criteria but I thought it will make me more prepared for 1st year

Pointless - and if you meet the entry grades for the degree, Unis wont offer for the Foundation year.

If you dont feel prepared for a full degree course then you may need to either rethink 'going to Uni' or plan a gap year before you apply.

Hi there,

If you believe that doing a foundation course is the right route for you then go for it. If you are not ready for university or want more experience before starting first year then foundation course may be a great route for you. However, if you meet the requirements then the foundation course may not be needed. There are others ways you can prepare for first year. If you haven't already go to an open day and speak to course representatives or current students and ask them should I do a foundation course or ask if they can give you any tips and advice on how to prepare for university without a foundation course.

I did an art foundation where I got to explore various creative subjects, which for me was very useful as I wasn't a 100% on the course I wanted to study at University so it was useful for me. But everyone is different and this also varies form course to course/university to university.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
