Heriot Watt or Glasgow for Modern Languages? (+ another question)

I have already gotten unconditionals from these Unis:
- Heriot Watt: Spanish/French (Interpreting + Translating)
- Heriot Watt: Spanish/French (Applied Languages)
- Glasgow: Spanish/French

I was wondering which one to favor. I want to learn the language itself, as in, how to speak it and understand it. Although I do enjoy learning about the culture and literature of another language, I feel as though I would have my hands full already learning how to speak it TT

Speaking of, to those who are learning two languages; how is it going? I'm concerned because whilst I have taken Spanish from Nat5 to AH, I have only started Higher French this year (although I am picking it up well according to my teacher).

Hello!

Congratulations on all those offers!

As I am a Heriot Watt student I can give you some insight into the Heriot-Watt applied languages/interpreting and translating degree. So, these programmes will allow you to learn practical language skills, communication studies, cultural studies and linguistics/ translation studies. Heriot-watt also provides lots of opportunities to network with employers which will be of benefit to you in the future after you have completed your degree. During your third year, you will also study abroad with a partner university providing you with the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture!

In terms of your concerns about managing two languages, while I haven't personally taken this course, I can assure you that Heriot-Watt is a very supportive university. Friends of mine who have studied languages here have absolutely loved their experience, especially the opportunity to spend a year abroad.

Hopefully this helps!
