What exam board?

And anything from that area of the specification could come up.

Ah I missed that, sorry. Well anything from the love and relationships anthology could come up so it’s probably better to focus on all of the poems as opposed to trying to predict things.

Hey, Although it’s hard to predict, I got 95/96 on the poetry exam by remembering 3~5 short quotes from most poems. I didn’t memorise quotes for everything as you always get one poem text given anyway, so I’d suggest memorising in depth quotes from the most versatile poems in each theme (eg. loss, love, family etc.). Good luck!

ahh thank you! For comparing poems I would have 3 paragraphs, 1 similarity, 1 difference, and 1 of either (or a mixed point).

The structure of each paragraph should be like this:
POINT: similarity or difference? using a key adjective
POEM 1: Analysis points 1, 2, (and 3), each relating back to the key word in your point. (1-2 quotes)
POEM 2: Analysis points 1, 2, (and 3), each relating back to the key word in your point. (1-2 quotes)
Concluding sentence: basically reiterating your original point,

You also must consistently refer back to the title and key adjective in your paragraph point, and include 2 structural features for each poem as an analysis point.

If you’re looking for tuition, even just 2-3 sessions to get this down let me know! Lots of marks are lost due to poor structuring of answers, so its super important to nail it!

Hope that helps! x
