GCSE - Design Technology AQA Theory

Hello,
I'm currently struggling on how to revise this part of my GCSE, I'm in Y11 so I don't have much time. In my November mocks I got a 5 based on just the exam not the NEA as this isn't completed yet. I'm predicted a grade 8, due to predictions based off mock NEAs in Y10 and mock mini assessment which I got 7. This is the first subject where I'm stuck on how to revise. I do know how to self teach as I did it for RE last year and got an 8 and I was able to move up from a 5 in my y10 mock to a high 8 in geography. However, in relation to geography I have a good teacher and what I revise was on the test. In my mock I did decent on the first section(a), I think 7/10 but loss many marks later on, getting around 50 or more on the whole paper out of 100. I usually like watching videos then making notes and trying to teach myself what I've learnt without my notes. I know people say flashcards are good but when I look at the spec, it looks somewhat vague so I don't know what to make notes on. My teacher at school aren't very good with theory, we just copy a cpg book into "cornell notes" and write key words, we used to be given past papers weekly but they aren't any good if you don't know the content. For my y11 mocks, I tried making notes using bbc bitezise but I won't deny I only revised the night before because I don't know what I'm doing. Any help is appreciated!

Same here honestly I just aced my sketching exam but not for theory and I’m in the same situation…but worst as I got like really bad for the theory. Now I’m really stuck and hopeless for this subject and like confused whether I should just drop this subject out…
I’m trying to cover as much of content as well the thing what happened to me was that in year 10 the teacher didn’t teach me anything and we wasted like 2 terms in year 10. In my class only 2 people passed like barely passed..
Idk what to di and I’m really stressed cuz of it

Honestly, I still don't know what to do, I think I'll try make mindmaps on the weighty topics because I'm not really a fan of flashcards - I don't know how to condense notes so it would be concise. I saw some notes on knowunity I think I will use it as a starting point along with using the specification and probably my cpg revision guide. It kinda makes me sad, I really loved this subject but I'm horrible at memorising information so s teacher explanation really helps me.

Yea I’m here trying to do past papers with absolute no knowledge of design tech and try to do it with mark scheme idk…same here I hate flash cards and find them annoying..I prefer mind maps too it’s quite funny we are quite similar and in the same situation but I’m way worst ngl cuz like I didn’t even really pass

Yeah that's so true, we got this!! I think I'll try do the same, the only downside is that there's isn't much past papers only a specium from 2018 till now. But it does seem like the questions are usually similar which is good for us. I remember my teacher used to have exampro questions, I'm not sure if they still had them, I didn't see the point in y10 when I didn't know it.

Btw do you have coursework..? And if yea then how is it going..?!

Yes I do have coursework, I haven't heard about the CIE board though, I'm currently making my product right now so I haven't been doing my NEA as of now, I keep pestering my teachers for feedback but according to my exam board they can only give generalised feedback so I can't ask specifically

He’s soo JUDGYYYYY!!! Like BRO I GET IT!! Like my product I decided to make is for organising wires and he was judging me so hard and when I showed him my sketches for potential product he was like you need to do TWO products!! WHYYYY!!!

That's so mean, I hope my teacher hasn't been setting me up. I've been doing textiles for the response to educational toys and games but obviously most people are doing wood work. I actually hate that so much but I do love what I'm making but it's so time consuming, it's the 1st time I've sewed since y9 😅

Update!!
So basically we had this design tech mock this time AND I FINALLY DID WELL!!! NOT SURE WHAT GRADE I WOULD GET BUT YEA
but the thing was that some of the girls got the exam paper the one we were doing in the mock before hand and saw the marking scheme which wasn’t fair at all…which kinda makes me feel like kinda frustrated and resentment…but it’s alright I’ll try my best to do the theory paper better as it was good this time but l want to improve further more..how’s your revision going..?

Yayy!! That's honestly a shame, cheating won't help anyone especially with GCSE so soon. I haven't revised theory since ages 🫣. I got my mocks next week but I've DT in 2 weeks so I'm gonna start revising after my core mocks. Unfortunately it's a in class mock so it's a shorten version 🙁. I'm getting a little scared as my nea is due pretty soon, I've asked for some feedback hopefully I can get some next week. I found some gizmo decks that had some content similar to my examboard so I was gonna look through them as well as bbc bitesize because I like how they explain things. I have almost finish my practical now, which I'm really happy about.

CMONNN! I think you have do good in DT Trust me if I can then you can too ik I have like the easy curriculum CIE but I BELIEVE IN YOUUU! Just trust on yourself..! Update me when you get the results! You can do it!

I got my nea back today I got 86/100, i don't the grade as grade boundaries haven't been set
