What do you look for when choosing a university?

Is it the prestige of the institution, the quality of the course delivered, the location?

mine was if the course is what i want, and then the prestige. Didnt bother much about the location cause i love commuting and travelling 😀

Hi folks, my top 5 recommendations when looking for a uni are...

1.

Course content - the more modules you enjoy, the more likely you'll have a good time on the course! Is there a placement option?

2.

Location - proximity to family? Size? Busy-ness?

3.

Campus vibe - how does being there make you feel? Can you see yourself happily being here for 3-4 years?

4.

Community - what are the staff and students like? what sense do you get from the community there? Open days and Offer holder days are a great way to get a feel for this.

5.

Things to do other than your studies - what societies are there? Does the uni offer part time work opportunities? What is there to see and do on campus and in town?

I hope this helps - best of luck everyone!

Hi there,

When I was applying for university, the things I looked for were and the questions I asked myself at the time:

1: Location- How far away is it from home? What is there to do on campus? What the transport links are like?
2: Staff- What are the staff and current students like? Open days are very useful for this!
3: Course- IS this a course I will enjoy? What are the modules like?
4: Support: What support does the university offer? Is there well-being support and career support? Again open days are great to find this out.

Majority of questions above can be answered by doing research of the universities but I couldn't recommend open days more. You get to really get the vibe and impression of the university. Get to speak to staff and current students.

Hope this helps 🙂
