Question about student finance for pre registration MSc courses

Hello, I ma applying for some courses starting in January and just wanted to check I had gotten my understanding of student finance available correct.

I am applying for pre registration diagnostic radiography MSc courses (at Teeside, Liverpool and Glasgow Caledonia), as well as the Prosthetics and Orthotics MSc (specifically the one at Keele, which is pre registration) course are exception courses and receive undergraduate student finance for both the tuition fees and the maintenance loan. I just wanted to check that was correct?

I already have a undergraduate degree, a masters degree, and a ProfGCE in secondary teaching (including QTS). Will I still be able to get student finance for the courses I mentioned above?

Thanks and all the best,
Youssef

Hi there.Funding for a new Allied Health Professional or NHS course will be exempt from previous study and equivalent level qualification rules. Therefore, if you already hold a degree or have previous study then you will still be eligible to access the full package of funding (so long as you are not already registered in the field you are planning to study). Thanks, Stephen.

Hello again Stephen. I'd just like to check again that the prosthetics and orthotics MSc at Keele is one of those courses in case I'm mistaken.

Hi Youssef,

We can check - is this a course that begins before September 2025?

Thanks, Graeme

Thanks Graeme! Actually, it starts next week, in January 2025. I wanted to double check I'm eligible for finance before starting, so time is of the essence for me. It is the MSc prosthetics and Orthotics course.

Keele's website says it is pre-registration, and so from what I understand this makes it an exception course and eligible for student finance. I just wanted to make absolutely sure I've got things right before committing.

Thanks and all the best,
Youssef

Thanks, yes - that course is also an exception. So, you'll be eligible for funding regardless of your previous study.

Thanks, Graeme
