If you have an offer, you will be invited to an Offer Holders visit day - a good time to look around more carefully, listen to a more detailed course presentation, ask questions and think about the reality of being at each Uni.

thanks for the response!! i did go to the open days for both with criminology and psychology talks- is Offer Holders Visit Days different? i was just wondering if students from there had any opinions cos they are all very preoccupied on open days (which is fair enough with the amount they do)

An offer holders visit day is going to be very different to an open day -- open days host huge numbers of people (thousands, maybe tens of thousands), but those are generally people that are thinking of going to university in future but may well not have chosen which universities to apply to or what to study. Offer holder days are more tightly focussed on people who have chosen a university to apply to, have applied to the university for a specific course, and have received an offer. A visit day is probably taking place in term time and you'll get a chance to talk one-to-one with actual students who are currently studying the course you've applied to.

Hi @tessglencross
I'm a current student at brighton and i thought I could tell you a bit about the uni!
Psychology is a very popular course here! All of our psych courses are accredited by the British Psychological Society!

The social life is really good in Brighton! We have lots of societies here at Brighton, and if there are none that interest you, you can make your own and get some funding from the students union to host events. We also have some 'give it a go' events at the beginning of each semester to try new things and meet new people.
The Mouslecoomb campus (where you would be studying) has The Venue which is our student bar where there are always events going on. There are also loads of bars close to the campuses and in the city centre. We also have loads of nightclubs in the city and by the seafront as well as the gay club Revenge. Most clubs and quite a lot of bars have student nights/hours and quite a few have student themed events at the beginning of the year.

Brighton has lots of student and private accomodations. I stayed in Mithras Halls in my first year, and though it was a bit expensive it was deffo worth the money.Psychology courses are taught in Mithras which is right behind Mithras halls (very confusing naming system i know🤣) so there is need to wake up super early to get to classes. All the rooms in Mithras halls are also ensuites so I didn't have to share a bathroom with anyone which I really liked. We also have a bit further away campus called Varley park which is a 15-20 min bus ride away from the Mouslecoomb campus.

I would recommend going to an applicant day if you can to get a better feel of the uni! I went to one when i was at your stage of applications and it helped me so much to make a choice.

I hope this helps you make a choice. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
