Job for student who has no experience

Hi any part time job ideas for someone who has no experience and is just looking for work to do over summer as I will have 4 months off may June July August in university not night shifts because honestly I can’t do those
Hi @Smart282.

You can either apply for casual jobs at your university, or you can try agency work - like brand ambassador (events, registrations) or catering assistant (waiter, barista). They always do have a lot of work in those fields during summer.

Good luck.

Fast food chains take on a lot of students.

Hi @Smart282

You could also try looking for jobs at high street retailers or chain restaurants over the summer as these businesses often let students transfer to other locations when they're studying at uni.

Good luck with the job hunt! 🙂

Hey there 😁

The best option in your case might be in the gastronomy sector. Local coffee shops, bars, or restaurants often look for extra help, providing a great opportunity to gain experience and earn some income.

If you're seeking something more adventurous, I would highly recommend the Camp America programme. It's a fantastic way to embark on an unforgettable adventure, work, and travel during the summer months.

I hope it will be helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Good luck! 🥳

Hi there!

I was in this boat a few years ago and managed to get a research assistant role with one of my lecturers, and a job as a student ambassador at my university too! Definitely reach out to your university's careers team and see if there are any jobs going at your university - ours do summer internships etc so there might be opportunities there! If you struggle, you could always volunteer for a little while too to get some experience and then you'll have a reference to put on your CV🤗

Hiya!

There have been some great suggestions already!

Personally, when I’m back home during the holidays, I work at a childcare service. I usually try and work during the Christmas, Easter, and Summer breaks—maybe you could explore something similar in this area.

I’d also recommend reaching out to your university’s Careers Team. They might be able to help! For example, DMU recently advertised some summer internships, so there could be similar opportunities at your university.

Lastly, if you’re on job platforms like LinkedIn or Indeed, try using keywords like “contract,” “zero-hour,” or “seasonal” to find relevant roles.

I hope this helps

Hi.
Try applying directly to local businesses, supermarkets, cafes, or retail stores, as they often hire students with no experience. Consider temp agencies, volunteering, or apprenticeships to gain skills. Job boards like LinkedIn, Glassdoor, or government job portals may have entry-level roles. Networking with family and friends can also help you find unadvertised opportunities.

Hi there @Smart282 , aside from the usual FnB and retail jobs you can try joining a student ambassador scheme or event base job like catering or waitering. They tend to pay more and allow for more flexible working hours so you can still enjoy your summer break and while working on the side. 🤗 If you have experience with caring for animals, you can also consider pet or house sitting too!
