Mental health nursing university choices

I've got such bad anxiety so I thought this might help. I'm applying to abertay, stirling, Edinburgh napier, Manchester met and Brighton, my main choice is Stirling tho. I'm from South East England so I'd love to see if I can find others applying to do mental health nursing in those unis for Sept 2025!

It's probably worth posting in the nursing applicants thread:

Just a heads up - you won't be able to apply to the NHS Learning Support Fund for the annual training grant if you study at a uni in Scotland.

Hi @exhausting-break its great to see that you're applying to brighton. I'm a current student at the uni of brighton. I see you've mentioned your anxiety and through i could tell you about some of our support systems in place if you choose to study here.
We offer lots of mental health support from counselling to help from a learning support coordinator. The is also more information about your wellbeing when studying here.

Each academic school also has a student support and guidance tutor (SSGT) who is there to help and talk to you about anything that may be worrying you.
Good luck with your decision. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi, I’m a second-year Adult Nursing student at Stirling. In first year, you’re usually in university 2 or 3 days a week or even just online for some classes, with classes lasting around 3 hours depending on the subject. They’ve recently introduced a new timetable system where you can choose class times that best suit your schedule. You’ll have a 4-week placement starting in January, followed by a 7-week placement from mid-May, then annual leave , you might also have 2 weeks in each placement block of virtual placement which is just online work and joining teams calls lol.Studying nursing at Stirling can be quite isolating because when we’re in, most things on campus are closed since it’s usually during the summer break for other students. The main benefit is that there’s no coursework during placement, which is different from other universities. However, support for nursing students at the university is quite limited. we also do not have simulation lab or ward like GCU and Napier our resources arent the best. You can also join the Forth Valley NHS bank after your first placement, but you’re limited to working a maximum of 18 hours per week, but try and join other banks because your not then limited. It is challenging, I have three kids myself, but I’ve managed so far. Having plenty of support around you really helps even if you are going straight from school etc , placements can be emotionally draining but also rewarding. Stirling also provide grants for English students etc to help .Here is more information - https://www.stir.ac.uk/scholarships/health-sciences-and-sport/nursing-scholarship-and-access-to-nursing-bursary/#:~:text=to%20Nursing%20Bursary.-,The%20Nursing%20Scholarship%20and%20Access%20to%20Nursing%20Bursary%20provides%20students,of%20our%20undergraduate%20nursing%20courses.
