St Andrews people share their application journeys

Hi, I'm in yr 12 and applying to St. Andrews this year. I want to ask current and previous St. Andrews students about their application journeys, namely these things:
- how they found it
- what they did (specifically)
- how they prepared
- top things they included in their personal statements
- something they would like to say to someone applying to St. Andrews
- why did they choose St. Andrews?
- how did they decide which course to apply for?
- what was the interview process like (if applicable) and what sorts of questions were asked?
- tell us about the entrance exams (if relevant - not every course requires this)
- did they take any online courses (for their personal statement) and if so, were they helpful?
- (this is just a fun one) what was something they didn't expect when arriving to St. Andrews?
- and feel free to give us a fun fact about either St.Andrews Uni or Scotland itself if you want to

You don't have to include all of this - these are just some ideas and you can absolutely talk about other stuff as well. I would greatly appreciate any responses as this would be very helpful not only for me but for other aspiring St. Andrews students as well.
