How do Students deal with finding a place in year 2
Hi there,

Finding accommodation second year of uni can be tough, especially when do you too scarcity you often have to make the decision relatively early into your first year of uni. But here are a few tips that myself and my peers followed when we were looking to find somewhere:

· if you're living in university halls in first year often you can make friends in that flat and look for accommodation together in larger style houses - the letting agents should just come up if you Google “your university city” and student accommodation.
· You could also see if others on your course are looking for accommodation as living together and heading to the same lectures is often easier.
· Or if everyone else is already sorted or have other plans you can try looking to see if you can join up with some people you don't know yet look at Facebook groups and see if there are any people looking for a member for a shared house.
· Finally it's often an option to apply for halls for the second year you're not often guaranteed it like you are as a first year but they do sometimes offer those places out as well.

Hope this helps

How do Students deal with finding a place in year 2

Hi there @Spartakbang ,
In addition to living in Student Halls of Residence there are a number of options you can consider when looking for student accommodation in the 2nd year.

1.

Halls of Residence: This would be your usual student accommodation provided or managed by your university. You should contact the university's accommodation team early to express your interest and check for availability.

2.

Private Accommodation: (eg. House share, sublet) you can use platforms like SpareRoom, OpenRent, Zoopla or Rightmove to contact property agents or landlords directly.

3.

Private Student Accommodation: These are private accommodations made for students, such as IQ or Amber students.

No matter the location, I would suggest starting your search early at least 3 months in advance if possible. Decide who you would like to live with and what your budget is as a group (if you decide to house share) 🤗 Keep and open mind and keep searching!
I hope this helps 🙂

Many people stick with the same housemates from year 1 and find a student house together, if this is not the case for you as it wasn't for me then you will need to find something else. There should be noticeboard in your uni with info about older students looking for new housemates, that was how I found my 2nd year house and stayed there for the three years. if you cannot find something off campus then talk to your uni accommodations officer and they maybe able to find you a place on campus, if they have a spare place in halls or we had student village for mature, international or students who couldn't live off campus.

Hey there 😁

I understand that finding accommodation without a guaranteed option can seem more challenging. However, it can be quite manageable. I even discovered more options in my second year, which may be advantageous for someone with specific preferences.

It really depends on the city. In my case, I researched private student halls and was able to find an impressive number of affordable and conveniently located choices. If private halls are limited in your city, exploring rental websites can be helpful. You might find private housing where you can share a house or flat with other students, offering a flexible and often cost-effective alternative.

I hope it will be helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Good luck! 🥳

Hi there,

Finding a place to live in second year can be quite stressful so I thought I could also give some insight into how I did this.

So, if you are sure that you want to live in a house, its a good idea to get a group of you together if you also have people who you want to live with, and then you can start having a look at houses/flats around your area. There are websites such as 'Uni Homes' where you can type in the place you are living and see if there are any properties that you like the look of. Then you can book some viewings and go and have a look at them to see if you like them. There will also be other websites you can use which will usually be the estate agents for student properties in your area so search this up and this should give you some more options too.

If you don't have a group of friends to live with but you still want to live in a house, you can usually look on Facebook to see if there are any groups where people are looking for house shares or a new flatmate and this way you can see if there is anyone you could live with here.

Or, you can always live in halls again in your second year. Lots of people do this and you can have a look and see if the halls that you are living in will accept you for another year, or see if there are any other halls that you would like to live in.

You can also look at private halls/student accommodation as this is usually a good option too!

I hope some of this helps,

Hi there,

Finding university accommodation can become more overwhelming in second year. Being a recent graduate, here's some of my experience on this topic. I stayed in university owned accommodation in my first year, then for second year I went to private halls and in my final year I moved to a flat with the friends I made during my other accommodation stays. That is how I did it, however everyone is different and may want to live in a house share or by themselves but private halls are a great step from university owned halls. Your bills are all included and you get to meet new people again. Some people live with their flat mates from first year however each case is different and depends on what works for you.

Hope this helps and best of luck! 🙂
