Hi, I would love to know your advice and recommendations for my shortlist!
I'm anxious and introverted, so I'm looking for calm and to be surrounded by nature.
I don't like loud, busy places, and I'm more interested in bookstores, cafes & parks than pubs and clubs.
I'll study either Early Childhood or Primary Education.
Randomly listed...
1. Durham for Primary Education
2. Nottingham Trent for Primary Education
3. Sussex for Primary Education
4. Plymouth for Early Childhood
5. Leeds for Childhood Studies
6. Sheffield for Education, Culture & Childhood

Hi yoursruby!

Its great to see that you have a shortlist of unis you're interested in!

Have you visited the open days at these places? That can be a fantastic way to get a feel for them, whether you can see yourself at home there, and maybe visit the local city to see if you feel good about it.

I would say that size-wise, Sussex, Durham and Plymouth are the smallest, and Plymouth is also quite nice because its so near the coast. However, I would say that whilst size and vibe are important, its the course content and modules available that are most important. If you choose the course with content and modules you find most interesting and engaging, your experience will be a lot better as you will feel more motivated, more engaged and this will filter down into your overall mood.

However at the end of the day you are the best judge of what would be best for you. So I would look carefully into the course contents, visit the places if you are able, and if you can use those visits to go to the city, talk to current students and lecturers and see how you feel about the campus.

I hope this helps! Best of luck 🙂

Thank you, Holly!
Hi YoursRuby,

All of the universities mentioned above are great options and all offer a slightly different experience. It is great to hear you want to go into Childhood studies and want to pursue further education and a potential career in this field. I would agree with everything stated above and really recommend attending as many Open Days and Campus tours as possible, to really get a feel for both the city and the university.

Also, have a good look into the different courses available at each university and compare the content and the module outlines, so they best suit your interests. Here is a link to look at all of the education undergraduate courses we offer, have a look through them, if you click on each one you can explore the course outline, including the modules.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions 😃
