Is anyone else starting at Uni of Edinburgh in September 2025?

Hey guys,

I've got an offer from the uni of Edinburgh to study Mechanical Engineering MEng and I was hoping to get in touch with other people planning on making Edinburgh their firm choice!

If you are, what subject are you planning on doing and are there any societies you're looking at joining?

Hello! Edinburgh is one of the candidates for my firm choice (still deciding haha). But if it is, I plan on doing their BEng Mechanical Engineering course :smile:
As for societies, I wanted to get a better look during freshers but their Space and gaming clubs seem interesting. Bummed that they don't have one for rock climbing though ;(

Im not 100% sure if I'll firm Edinburgh either, feels like the more research I do into the unis the less I know which to choose. What are your other options?

I feel the same way, I keep changing my mind as I get more info ;-;
My other options are Southampton, Sheffield and Warwick. For Southampton and Sheffield I've chosen Aerospace degrees. What are yours?

Mine are general engineering at Warwick and mechanical at Bristol. I've also applied to Durham for general but haven't heard back yet.
Torn between Warwick and Edinburgh for my firm choice but almost definitely will choose Bristol for insurance because they gave me contextual grades.

Best of luck with your app then! I'm deciding between Edinburgh and Southampton.

Hi, I have an offer for Electrical and Mechanical MEng and ngl it is my dream university so 99% chance i will firm. Thanks for the info about climbing will definitely be joining the mountaineering club as a indoor climber excited to carry on at uni and outdoor climbing also looks really fun to try. I also want to join the wild swimming society and perhaps hiking groups (not necessarily through the uni).

A*AA. I'm a bit upset about it because I applied thinking it was going to be AAA because those are the entry requirements and now they've given everyone A*AA instead so all my offers are super high ☹️ I contacted them about it and they said it's because the course is in high demand or something.
Hi, I also got an offer to study Mechanical engineering MEng for a direct second year entry. For advanced higher, I am doing Maths, Physics and Graphic Communication.

Hi, I'm doing second year entry as well and ngl I'm a little bit nervous it's going to be harder socially. How you feeling about it?

Hi, I feel that the transition period from school life to university life would be very challenging, as the first year is typically advanced higher topics. This means that from our first day, we will be studying new and complex things. Another than that I don’t feel any other challenges that could arise from this. Btw what advanced highers or A-levels are you doing this year
