Bristol Film and Tv Practial aspects of course

i was just offered a place in Uni of Bristol for film andtv and i was just wondering what the practicalaspects of the course were like.

as well as UoB i have an offer for UWE filmmaking,an interview for BSU digital production and amwaiting to hear back from UAL for film practice andfilm and tv.

If it helps, i am interested in specialising inediting/post production throughout the course/afteruni.

Im looking for a course that has a decent amount oftheory/academia while also having a good amount ofpractical work to help build a good portfolio. anycomments on this? thanks. (posted this on both media thread and bristol thread)

You can find the course structure online. There are links to descriptions of the modules available.

Note that (as any any university) there's no guarantee that any given module will be available if/when you do join the university, as things are always subject to change.

I have friends doing the Film, TV and Digital Production course and they all absolutely love it. They say a good balance of both and the nightlife is good. It’s not as vivid as bristol but it is definitely a lively night. It has three nightclubs and tons of pubs and bars. It is much easier to get to know people at BSU than UWE due to regularly bumping into those you know in communal areas or from being neighbours in uni accoms. You will become better friends with housemates etc rather than course mates usually.

I have met lots of people that have complained UOB is pretty crap for film, especially practically. UWE is a lot more of a practical course as it is Filmmaking meaning that you are not critically analysing film as much. Heard good things about the UWE course and I think one of their student last year one a major award. Its more down to whether you want a more academic or practical course. When I went to the open day at UOB for film, I was shocked with the lack of facilities. If you want to make films then UOB is probably not the one.
