like someone else said, going to the gym could be a good way to meet people. Exercising is a brilliant mental tonic; it improves your mental and physical health and also self confidence. You could volunteer, e.g. at a local charity shop (could be as little as a couple of hours a week) - it’s a great way to be part of a tight-knit team, but you’ll also get chatting to customers and get to know the regulars. Or you could do volunteering centred around animals? If you have a dog, you could meet people on dog walks (you said you like walking). What about doing d of e (or something similar) with strangers? (You can do d of e until the age of 25 I believe!) Maybe try going to a meet-up thing where nobody knows each other?
