MSc Speech and Language Therapy - should I apply now or wait for shadowing session?

I know for some unis like City or Essex it's first come first served. I have a shadowing session lined up and they're just waiting to confirm the date, but it's already been a long process and I'm worried it's going to be too late to apply by the time I complete my shadowing session.

My current experience: teaching assistant, disability centre assistant and will be SLTA in a nursery as part of my Linguistics degree next semester (will also write a 3000 word essay on it). I talked about these experiences and how they relate to being an SLT, as well as how I'm currently pursuing a Level 2 Certificate in Dementia Care.

Do I have any chances to get an interview based on my current experience or should I wait to do a shadowing session? I'm in my 3rd year right now.
Hello there :flower2:
I’m not actually doing or have ever done an SLT course, but I rad your message and had a couple of thoughts that might help you.

It sounds as though you have lots of experience already so plenty to write about on your application could you just say that you have a shadowing session organised, explain who it is with and the work you anticipate seeing, you are just waiting to hear about the date? That way you won’t be too late in putting in your application.

Alternatively, how about contacting the admission team at the university and the department, explaining the situation and asking their advice on whether you should talk about the anticipated shadowing in your application or wait to hear on the date etc. I would be inclined to ask them as they can explain to you exactly what they want from your application but as I said I’m not on an SLT course .

I hope that helps a bit! Good luck with your application

For City, you're already a late applicant.
