what is the meaning of same setting for Alevel exams?

Good morning!
My son has got the offer to study BSc in Physics at the University of Edinburgh for September 2025. I noticed that the conditional offer from the university required three ALEVELs to be taken in the same SETTING.

I am writing to enquire how exactly the same SETTING is defined. Does it mean that it is sufficient to take them in the exam year 2024-2025, or do all the subjects, all the modules, have to be completed in May-June 2025? Can he take part of a subject or part of a module of a subject in October 2024 and then take the departmental subject or part of a module of a subject in May-June 2025 again.

We are confused by this one setting and will be grateful if anyone could explain to us.

Highly appreciate this!

Its actually 'sitting' not setting - and they mean 'did he take all of his final exams in the same exam session' - ie. summer or winter. Many Unis don't like A levels taken over different 'exam years' because they want to see that someone can cope with '3 subjects at once' and not 'spread out over two years' etc.
