Is being head girl worth it? 👩🏼*🎓

To all the past head girls, was it worth it? 🤔

My school are running head girl applications in March. Everyone says I have the potential to become head girl due to my extra-curriculars. However, I don't want to be head girl as I am afraid it will impact my grades. Does anyone have any advice? Did it impact your GCSEs much? Did you regret it?

Thank you. ✌🏼

I wasn't a head girl but I was a prefect during Year 13. It did impact my grades a bit, but I didn't regret it because it kept me more involved in the school community. What are the responsibilities of head students at your school?

I was deputy head girl in sixth form and I’d say it impacted my mock grades as we were very busy around then but not my actual results, I would definitely recommend! It makes you more involved and you get to know a lot more people

We mostly do speeches for parent evenings and such. We also have to check that the other prefects are doing their jobs properly as well maybe give tours to other teachers.

I think what you would need to do is plan your time well and you would be able to do both to a high standard. Do you want the role or is it just because other people are saying you would be good? Would you be better suited for a different role?

It's mostly students and teachers telling me I would be a good head girl. I have run my own clubs and charity events before so those are mainly why. I like the idea of that title but I am worried it will impact my grade. Plus, I have not really done much since the start of the year in terms of my extra-curriculars which is one thing they are looking for but I have done some in the past including debate.
