I know these posts are really annoying but I’m in quite a unique situation
Hello, I’m currently a y12 student at a decently performing sixth form college. I would like to apply to either Oxford or Cambridge and have done some research about applications. I was homeschooled for GCSE and this is where the problem arises.
How do they view my gcse results as you can’t compare them because I didn’t go to a school? (I got 5 A*/2 A/ 1 B in business) . Oxford have stated on their website about how they do the admissions process for homeschooled students but I’m not homeschooled for a levels.
Your application would be considered on its merits, with appropriate weight being given to the fact that you were home schooled up to GCSE. The two universities have broadly similar approaches to GCSE grades, treating them as one component of the totality of information which is assessed during the admission process,

What is the breakdown of your GCSE subjects? I wonder what were the 5A* achieved in? ...and the 2A? 1B?
Many schools do 8 GCSEs but 9 GCSEs is the norm and only some do 10 or 11 and a small percentage do 12, 13, 14 and 15 GCSEs each year.
Which degree subject do you want to study? 😧
Have you thought about which college(s) you would like to visit on the Open Days in Year 12?
