Awards that are not formal qualifications in UCAS application

Good day,

I am a South African student filling out my education section and was wondering whether or not awards such as those given by my school for top performance in my cohort, top performance in certain subjects, as well as medals and certificates granted by mathematics competitions hosts are to be listed under this section as qualifications. I understand that these are awards and are not formal qualifications (for context, the National Senior Certificate is equivalent to A-Levels in South Africa). Yet, the equivalent I could find in the UK of such an award is the Duke of Edinburgh, which is listed on UCAS as an option to add a qualification.

If I am not supposed to add these certificates and awards of colours to the education section, must I include them in my PS, or should my reference mention them?

I appreciate any help you can provide.

DoE is listed because UCAS gave in an added it. It isn’t a recognised qualification.

Academic achievements other than formal qualifications should be included in your reference. They shouldn’t be in your education section or your PS.

You only list formal qualifications on your UCAS application.
Your school can mention 'school awards' in their reference, but honestly, Unis are not going to that interested in school prizes.
