Oxford UNIQ Subject Decision

I'm going to be applying for the UNIQ summer school programme this year but I'm not sure whether I should choose Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science. I'm still not fully certain on which of those subjects I would like to do at Oxford if I apply but my thinking behind choosing a specific subject at UNIQ is that as well as gaining a further understanding for the subject it would also aid my personal statement. My deeper interests mainly lie around quantum physics and quantum chemistry. Could anyone give me any advice? The deadline to apply is in a few days.

Hey - I went to the UNIQ summer school. My advice would be to go for the subject that is the most wide reaching in terms of what you could learn - Oxford values students that are willing to explore different subjects. In that sense, I'd maybe go for Material. I didn't end up applying to Oxford after my experience and I ended up taking a sidestep in to the humanities so take what I say there with a pinch of salt since we took different directions.

Hi, I did uniq last year, and ended up getting my second choice of course anyway. And I had the most amazing time. I think the support for an application for any subject is amazing, even if you did a different course on the residential. I else up springing for joint honours as a result of developing my passion for the second subject! Maybe go material sciences? It’s new and exciting and from my understating a blend of chem and physics?

Have you actually been accepted onto the Oxford Uniq programme? As I understand it, the Summer programme is part of that?
