Rent/accommodation costs- (some accommodations have additional utility bills), however, utility bills, along with wifi are included at Kent's accommodation.
•
Food shops, and eating out with friends for example.
•
Course materials/study materials- While these may be smaller purchases e.g. stationary, it's important to factor in any costs of tech e.g. a laptop/tablet, or course specific materials which you might choose to purchase or use during your studies.
•
Social life/societies- While joining fees for societies are often one-off payments, this is important to factor in if you might be interested in societies. Spending time with friends socialising may also lead to extra costs, especially in welcome week when you're meeting new people, so this is important to factor in.
•
Prescriptions/toiletries- Not always the first costs you might think of, but these could add up if you pay for monthly prescriptions/medications.
•
Travel costs- Some students might take their car to university, so additional costs will come in here. Some students may use public transport to get to lectures/placements etc, depending on how far away their accommodation is from campus, and other commitments they have, such as paid work.
