ah, accounting was hard at the start, but is very easy when u get used to it when u crash. Depends on u tho as both subjects arent releated to ur degree.

Hello! Higher Computing Science student here - I sat it in National 5 as well and got an A. I can't speak for Accounting though as I've never taken it.

I personally do not find Computing to be a very difficult subject - it's probably the easiest out of all of the ones I currently take. That being said, you obviously have to understand whatever programming language it is that your teacher is teaching. All of the Nat 5 knowledge is expected when you come to Higher. You don't revisit anything. I know this is the same for some subjects but it's different for Computing because you need a good understanding of the programming language to be able to work on it at Higher level. There is a reason that the Head of Technologies at my school - who is also my Computing teacher - doesn't allow students at my school to crash Higher Computing. Not only would you have to learn the Higher algorithms, pre-defined functions, etc but you'd also - unless you had previous experience with it - have to learn the language from scratch. I'd definitely say you'd have to spend some of your summer - not all or lots but at least some - trying to learn the basics of the programming language you're going to be taught.

You mentioned wanting to do English Literature or English Literature and Language at university. Don't you think there would be a better Higher to choose - one that's more suited to your degree - than Computing or Accounting? I'm not trying to put you off from either of those but I just feel there could perhaps be a better use of your time, a better subject that teaches you skills more suited to an English degree, than Computing and Accounting. I don't know much about English degrees as it's not an area I'm personally interested in going into but wouldn't a more writing-intensive subject be more suitable for it? Again, I don't know much about English degrees.

Of course, the final decision is up to you. This is all simply my opinion on the matter.

There's no maths in Higher Computing.
