I sent my CS coursework to someone

Hello guys, so basically I sent my A-level CS coursework to a friend from a different school but then It's been ages since he has sent me his, so I'm not sure whether he's plagiarised mine or not. I have suspicions because he's a bit of slacker in school but then what happens and can we get caught e.g if mine gets moderated and his doesn't, how will they find out he copied mine? Like I know it can get both of us in trouble. What do I do? I was thinking of phoning up his school to alert his school teachers just in case he doesn't plagiarise and get me in trouble.

Is this seriously a massive issue?

The obvious question is: Why did you send your coursework to a friend? What were you expecting him to do with it? An impartial observer might imagine that your intention was to allow him to cheat. Can you prove otherwise?

In terms of what you do, I guess your best bet it to try to get confirmation from your friend that he hasn't used your work. And then hope for the best.

If you contact his school, your school, or the exam board, then you're admitting to having breached the rules.

(Also, don't forget that in an attempt to deflect blame from himself, your friend can always claim that the work was his, and that you copied from him.)

No since I have evidence on text that I sent mine to him so obviously I wouldn't get suspected on

And to the question why I sent him, It's because I'm a nice guy. I don't want to make anyone feel bad and since he asked I gave it to him for inspiration since he said he'd send his too

My friend is in a separate school, he keeps ignoring the messages, calling me stupid for thinking a person can get caught and says his is bad so won't send it

I don't know, I'm just worried. He's a friend (not close) but I don't want to make him feel bad. I could easily escalate it

But then if it turns out to be false, then I'm the dumb guy for getting too insecure. Do you think the fact that he's ignoring me is his fault or am I in the wrong for pestering

The fact that he's "calling me stupid for thinking a person can get caught" isn't a good sign. Caught for what?

You've said that "he's a bit of slacker in school". That makes me think that he's not done much of his own coursework - but fully intends to finish it in time. However, being a slacker, he might not manage that. So as the deadline looms, he might be tempted to turn to yours for more than inspiration.

I think you're right to be worried. But it's difficult to know how worried you should be. In all likelihood nothing bad will happen (because he won't use your work, or because he will be his cheating won't be spotted). However, if he does use it, and it does get spotted, the consequences for you would not be good.
