What should I expect in a headboy interview

Hi,

When I did my head girl interview for Sixth Form I had a general conversation with the Head of Sixth Form and the Deputy Head of the Main School - this was to see how I would carry and conduct myself speaking with visitors to the school, governors etc. and on topics that I wasn't sure of or understanding.

Then I was asked a series of questions. This included what I would do in certain situations, explaining how I thought I had the right skills and qualities based on other experiences, voluntary roles or leadership positions I had had, looking at the other students who were also in the final stage and assigning other roles to them and why (we had a head girl and boy, deputy head girl and boy then a girl and boy on the anti-bullying team and a girl and boy on the charities team and the 8 students made up the Senior Prefect team), I had to provide experiences of working with/helping/supporting etc. students in other year groups and what ideas or things do I think could improve the school and similar questions along the same lines.

It may have just been like this at my school but I found that it was a very informal interview - the staff already knew me and what I'm like as a person so it was more listening and learning about my ideas for the school and why I thought I was a good candidate and right for the role.

Hope this helps, Ella - Lancaster University Student Ambassador
