Funding for exemption course

Hi, I was hoping to get some clarification regarding the student finance options available. I was hoping to study occupational therapy, which I believe is an exemption course, meaning I would be able to be funded for the 3-year course. I previously studied 2 separate courses, one in 2020 and the other in 2023, but due to caring responsibilities, I had to withdraw. Would I still be eligible for student finance for the occupational therapy course because it's an exemption course despite having studied for a year on two separate occasions?

Hi there,

Occupational therapy typically are exception courses as long as you're not already registered in the field you're looking to attend. Do you have a university in mind so we can check this and confirm? Thanks, Jason

I was hoping to study at the university of east London or London south bank. Would the 2 previous years of study effect the student finance at all?

Were the two years previously for an Occupational Therapy course or was this a separate course? Thanks, Jason

No, one was adult nursing for 1 year and the other was biomedical sciences for 1 year but due to caring responsibilities I had to withdraw from both courses

Thank you. As the course above is exempt from previous study rules your previous study wouldn't impact the funding. Thanks, Jason
