What do can I do with a 2:2 in fashion journalism ?

I’m super worried that I’m only going to manage a 2:2 when I graduate. I’ve had a really challenging time whilst at uni and I’m super worried it will reflect in my final grade and that this will affect my ability to get a good job in the industry post graduation. Are there any recommendations or tips to help me with this ?

Hi @Lm_27

Are you graduating this year?

Sorry to hear that you have had a hard time at university, you may want to looking into mitigating circumstances to give you extra time to complete your assignments and get the grades you deserve.

2:2 is still a good grade and employers really value that fact that you have a degree. I would also say other things aside from your degree can have an impact on your opportunities. Firstly your portfolio of work, keep writing pieces to add to this. You could even find small writing opportunities for new magazine or if your university has a university newspaper. Even things like copywriting or similar to what I do on TSR replying and writing blogs for Kingston university can show employers that you have worked on professional projects. You could even create your own fashion blog.

I would also suggest doing internships or volunteering to again build you cv, as employers value the skills you gain from this an general work experience.

I hope this is helpful and if you need any links or advice on where to look for internships just let me know.

Good luck

Hello,
I am a student rep for the MA courses at UAL and can help with your query. First, don't stress too much about your grade. The goal is always to do your best and make sure you are looking after yourself and your mental health as a priority.

Regarding your post graduation options, you can still go into industry with the skills you have learnt during your degree. Or you might decide to continue your education with a masters degree if you feel there are some topics you'd like to Deve deeper in your studies. Check out the UAL masters homepage where you'll find the full list of MA degrees which might suit your interests.
