Confusion over next step for TESOL post Masters

Hi,

I have 1 year teaching experience of kindergarten in Myanmar and a level 5 300 hr TEFL (Ofqual regulated) with no practical element. I will graduate in September 2025 with a Ma in TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of other languages), and now thinking of my next step.

I’m a little confused over what is the best path, I was looking at possibly getting my CELTA in October 2025 and then getting my QTS come January 2026.

Do I need a PGCE since I will have an Ma already?

I’m looking after graduating with the QTS to work in Qatar or Dubai and after 2 years attain either a J visa or H1B to work to work in the USA.

Is this a feasible route? Am I missing any steps? I have contacted QTS and am waiting to be assigned a coach currently.

Thank you for any suggestions and help it is greatly appreciated.

Do a CELTA if your MA TESOL has no practical component.
Depending on what type of work you want in Qatar or Dubai, you may not need QTS or PGCE.
University work with just your MA is an option, although you'd need a lot more experience.
Be aware that many Middle East countries do not accept distance Masters.

If in a school, a PGCE or QTS or both would definitely be helpful.
