My daughter would like to study Graphic design at Loughborough and she achieved an A in graphic design but got ABC and they want ABB Surely the C shouldnt matter as its in another subject she is not interested in. Should she apply or does she have to do a foundation year which will then be 4 years of student debt to repay instead of 3
Still try to apply for the full degree course if that’s what she really wants, but make sure she applies with the strongest portfolio she can. With art they’re mainly looking at the quality of the portfolio and the personal statement. If the quality of the work is really high for them, perhaps they could be willing to make an offer despite grades. I would recommend looking at different portfolio examples of successful applicants on places like YouTube, not just for loughbrough but for the top places for art in the uk to get a good feel for the quality they would look for, you can then use an free application like Canva to put a portfolio together. Wishing her luck
