Hi i was wondering if there were any students at Keele who could tell how student life is? And if there are any Muslims what are the options for halal food?

Not a student, but replying because I’d like to know this as well.

Not a student, but I have applied there and did attend an open day and I can say it's good enough, there are halal options in the city away from campus, not too sure about the on-campus restaurants and shops; and there are mosques dotted around the place with 2 on campus. Overall it is good enough for Muslims, obviously can't tell you about student life.

I can’t speak much for the actual campus but I currently live in Stoke and we have decent diversity in the city with a few more highly populated areas of Muslim background. There is a few smaller supermarkets in those areas that seem to stock more culturally diverse food. Our general supermarkets like Asda/tesco/Sainsbury’s seems to be increasing their cultural food ranges too, I don’t know if that is the case everywhere or just locally. We also have many takeaways and restaurants run by people I believe are Muslim so I would presume their foods will be halal. I’m not sure if that helps at all! Best of luck ☺️

There are a lot of halal places in Newcastle under Lyme and Stoke on Trent. Honestly they have pretty good food and many options.

The closest place to get halal meat from the university is Sainsburys but slightly overpriced. However, if you don't mind travelling a little further then there's plenty of halal butchers in Stoke. Lmk if you have any questions x

One of my flatmates eats halal food. He spent the first two weeks only eating takeout, but that was bc he didn’t have a plan just plan what you’re going to do before you come here! There’s a large selection of supermarkets in Newcastle Under Lyme, and the bus fare is cheap if you don’t use the app the uni tells you to get (£4 vs 10p 😳😳). He just takes the bus with friends every week.
