Being offered an alternative nursing course

hi,
I originally applied to all my universities for a dual degree for nursing (mental health and child). I have since received interview offers for all. After attending my edge hill interview i was rejected from the original course and instead offered a conditional offer for just mental health nursing.

I was wondering why this happens and also if it is maybe suggesting child nursing isn't for me. I understand the dual programmes are competitive and that may be the only reason. I have had an offer for the original course I wanted at a different uni (requires BBB) so would like this as my firm but am unsure about what to do about the insurance choice as edge hill is after 104 ucas points. (For reference my predicted is A*AC + my epq which im predicted an A/B) and my other unis are all after 120.

Was just after some opinions and guidance. I still have 3 interviews to attend so will definitely wait and consider them once I have the outcomes.

thank you!!

Unis often make alternative offers to fill places on less popular courses. If it's not the course you want, don't take it. Also, you have until June to make your firm and insurance decisions, so wait for the outcome of your interviews, attend applicant/offer-holder days and see how confident you feel about achieving those grades as you progress with your A levels.

Hi

This is generally what they do if you don't get offered your original coursework that they will offer you a alternative course to you 😉.

At least they have offered you a alternative course but like what normaw said it's up to you if you want to accept it or not.

Sometimes you can wait and see if you can get what you want but you might not get it still so you'll probably land up taking the alternative course instead.

See what happens with your other universities interviews before making a decision.

If Edgehill is your preferred place of study I'd ask if there is the option to transfer onto the dual course midway if you start with just mental health.

I went to the Plymouth open day with a friend who was interested in this and they said that transferring onto the dual course is offered to everyone with an average of 2:1 or higher at the end of second year. Equally for those who have started on the dual course, once they've completed 3rd year they register in their first field and they can choose to step off with the single registration at that point.
