A-Level Geography struggle!

Hi everyone,
I’m currently in year 13 and studying Geography (edexcel). I’m really struggling with it but can’t bring my self round to revise for it!! Has anyone been in this situation and/or have any tips and advice as to how i can overcome this!
thanks
Hi @jt007

I thought I could recommend a few revision tips and options that I found beneficial when doing geography at A Level and GCSE.

Mindmaps - I found these best for learning about case studies, and for memorising specific facts, key dates and figures about it. I used to do memory exercises where I would write a neat mind map, turn it over and from memory write down as much as I could remember - and repeat this till I could remember everything important.

Flashcards - These are best for key terms and definitions. If you’re unable to make physical cards, Quizlet’s (https://quizlet.com/) a good online substitute.

Flow maps/diagrams - For learning about processes and the formation of certain features, such as for coasts: arches, stacks and stumps.

Using revision websites - Tutor2U (https://www.tutor2u.net/geography) and Physics and Maths Tutor (https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/geography-revision/a-level-edexcel/) are my favourites. They have past papers and questions, as well as revision notes on certain topics you might be struggling with. Most of this is for free except Tutor2U has a few paid options along with free resources.

Revision as a whole I found is quite hard when I’m lacking motivation and concentration (all the time basically 😅). So I found Flora (https://flora.appfinca.com/en/) which is a revision app that basically sets concentration timers. You grow plants every time you set a timer and if you go on any other app on your phone you’ll destroy the plant - basically forcing you to concentrate on your work and get you off your phone. You can grow your own garden and add your friends on there too.

Overall if you're struggling to revise try not to stress to much! The best thing you can do is prioritise what you're most struggling with so you'll make the most of your time and maybe be open to trying new revision techniques to see what works best for you. Also have a go at changing the environment you're in and find a place quieter where you can concentrate or even set up a study group where you can help each other focus!

I hope this helps and good luck in your exams later!
