UCL STAT - how is it considered?

I'm applying for Computer Science MEng this year and have to sit the STAT, but from what I gathered
1. You can't really revise for it
2. It's quite unfair considering you have to pay for resources
3. It's very different and new compared to normal CS admission tests like STEP, TMUA, etc.

I didn't get a chance to go to the open day to ask, but does anyone know how it's actually weighted against the rest of your application? If I have a strong personal statement and predicted grades, would STAT really be the majority and deciding factor?
