UCAS offers - wrong start date

Hey there, I’ve submitted ucas application and have started to get offers but my 2 top choices are showing course dates as September 2026 not 2025.

My overall application says I’m applying for courses starting in 2025 so unsure if I’ve done something wrong.

I can’t see how to contact UCAS about this and not sure if I need to speak with the Universities themselves to double check.

Any help appreciated!

Occasionally, universities will make you an offer for the following year (if they have too many applicants for the current year) on the basis that many students would prefer that (making them take a gap year) than just getting an outright rejection. But the fact that two of your choices have done this does imply that something has gone wrong.

When you apply in the current UCAS cycle, you're allowed to say that you're seeking deferred entry on a course-by-course basis - i.e. you're applying now for a 2026 place because you plan to take a gap year. So perhaps that has happened somehow?

I suggest you contact UCAS and the individual unis for clarity. You can contact UCAS Monday to Friday 08:30 to 18:00 on the numbers below:

UK phone number: 0371 468 0 468
International number: +44 330 3330 230

Just phone the Universities concerned - UCAS does not need to be involved in this.

I’ve made the same mistake with all of my university courses and only realised today. What did you do? Were you able to change it, or do I really have to wait until next year?

Hi there, I’ve checked with college and there is a 14 day grace period from date of submission so I’m going to contact the 2 universities I chose the wrong date for and ask to be considered for sept 25 and hope that they will amend this. Hope you can do the same

As above, just contact your uni choices directly and ask to be considered for Sept 2025 entry. Use the undergrad admissions contact points.

Changes need to be made in writing so either respond to the offer email you had or submit an enquiry form
