You don't need Year 12 style work-experience for an Economics degree - no Unis wants it or gives you any extra credit for it.

Economics is an academic degree - what Unis will want to see in your PS is that you have a genuine interest in studying this at a higher level than A levels, with examples of specific topics that interest you, and evidence that you have done extra reading, and 'finding out' beyond just A level classwork.

For work-experience, just pick something/anything that interests you - it doesn't need to be 'relevant'.

Suggested reading etc from Oxford - Economics Reading & Viewing Suggestions | Department of Economics - but good for all Unis.

Work Experience is super helpful because it can help you decide if the careers related to the A Levels you do or degree course you want to do are for you. It helped me a lot decide which degree I wanted to apply for and career I want to pursue, most colleges tell you do work experience in Year 12 for a reason.

The 'Big Four' accounting firms tend to have work experience, some has in person, some have virtual. Last time I checked PwC, has virtual work experience which may be nice if you are far from an office. Especially, EY does a lot of things through EY foundation, especially targeting those from low income backgrounds. Don’t worry if you're not interested in accounting, they have lots of opportunities in other areas too. Uptree usually has one day work experience events you can sign up for, some can be a bit competitive though. And simply googling a firm then work experience at the end, might bring up some opportunities. Good luck
