QMUL, Sheffield or Loughborough?

What university is better for economics/business? Got offered economics for Sheffield and Loughborough, and business management and politics for QMUL.
What is more prestige?
What is better for nightlife?
Hello, I think Ulster offers quite good courses

Hi @sgfagg

It's hard to say with would be best for you. My advice would be to compare the courses in detail and see which more closely aligns with your career aspirations as a start.

For prestige, I can't comment on the others, but there is a reason that Loughborough are in the top 10 UK universities every year. We're also triple-accredited (AACBS, EQUIS and AMBA) which ensures the highest quality of education.
It's worth remembering that placement and study abroad programmes are available on all our degree courses, which then means our graduates are highly employable with excellent starting salaries.

The extra-curricular opportunities on campus are amazing and there is a lot to do both on campus and in the surrounding area.

If you need any specific info let us know, but at the end of the day, only you can make the choice of where you want to go based on course, location and also what you thought when you visited on open days if you managed to do that.

Good luck with your decision

Hi sgfagg,
My name is Sofia, and I am currently a MSc Cancer Biology and Therapeutics student at the university of Sheffield. Therefore, I don't have first-hand experience of Economics. However, those who do study Economics at Sheffield have excellent career prospects with 94% of those who graduated in 2020 being in employment or further study 15 months after leaving university (2020-21 Graduate Outcomes Survey). You also have the opportunity to do a placement year with a leading employer in your second year. This is a great opportunity to gain key experience before you graduate!

Overall, I have loved my time at Sheffield, which is why I chose to stay on and study my masters here after finishing my bachelors. Sheffield is a great city for students. It's affordable, there's lots to do and great nightlife. Our student's union is award-winning and has both Bar One and the Foundry, with many societies doing socials there. Societies are a great way to meet people with similar interests! A list of societies can be found here: https://su.sheffield.ac.uk/activities/find-student-groups

All of your options are great universities, so it will be down to deciding which university is best for you in terms of course, city and other factors. Talking to current students or attending open days/offer holder days are a great way to do this.

I hope this helped, and please ask me any other questions you may have!
Sofia
